I have a grohper or mole making mounds in my lawn and planting areas. Anyone know a good way to get rid of them other than my Mother-In-Laws technique of stabbing them with a butcher knife? Sad

Hi Stan, We had this problem and tried everything.  The only thing that worked for us was a trap called a "Mcabee."   It was invented in Los Gatos.  If you can't find any up here, my sister will be happy to mail some.

Thanks, Fawn. I was hoping there was something easier than the McAbee trap. I have a couple, but the gophers always manage to trip the traps without getting caught. Most of the resources I could find on the internet point to the McAbee as the most effective but they sure are a pain to use.

We too have had a problem with moles and this is what we did: Put several tablets of choclate exlax down in the gopher's path in many spots. They love the taste and will poop themselves to death. My grandfather taught me this trick. Or you can try putting the garden hose in the path by the most recent hole and stand by with the shovel, this also works well.
Good luck!
